OUTFIT #6: dinin' out

dress - missguided (sold out)
blazer - H&M
flats - H&M
earrings - H&M

I'm going out tonight with my family and some of our friends as it's my sister's birthday and we're all dying for good food! Yesterday was my prom and my tan still hasn't worn off so i was really looking forward to bearing the currently awwwessommmeee colour of my legs, but annoyingly and the after prom party  I walked through a holly bush (stupid?!) and i now have huge scratches along my legs, not pretty!

I'll post some pictures soon of my prom, it was a magical night and i wish i could relive it a hundred times. I am so, so sad that it's over because it was a night that I'd been dreaming of for years and when it was over i felt ... satisfied and happy but a bit empty at the same time because something i'd been waiting for for so long came true and now there's a little piece of me that wonders, what is there left to look forward too? I had butterflies all night.
I'm also ADDICTED to individual false eye-lashes now! I find them sooo much easier to apply than a full set because my eyes are a weird shape (haha) and they also look A LOT more natural which I loooove.

OUTFIT #5: last friday night

Dress - Forever 21
Denim Jacket - Tommy Hilfiger (through TK Maxx)
Trainers - Fake Converse from Italy (that I drew a blue star on hahah)
Lion earrings - H&M
I wore this cute 50's style dress to a party on Friday and I felt brilliant in it! I love the unusual, retro print although I'm not sure about the shape, it's cupped in a weird, flat way and where the dress goes in and the skirt part starts, I feel like it makes me look a bit tubby! :(

I've recently been wearing my fake converse to a lot of parties because I think they give an outfit a cool, laid-back look and I also feel like my shortness is part of my personality and I don't feel like myself in heels!  Is that weird? I have been pining over some metallic navy Jeffrey Campbell Lita's recently though, and I think it's time I treated myself to a pair of good quality shoes for once!

OUTFIT #4: shopshopshopping

American apparel disco pants
T-shirt: can't remember sorry
Checked shirt: Primark
Flatforms: Asos
Fruit chain necklace & Red gem earrings: H&M
3 Tier eye, moon and sun necklace: Topshop (sale)
I am so in love with my new fruit chain necklace, I have been looking for a heavy gold necklace EVERYWHERE and so I was delighted to find this in H&M. It was £7.99 which is a bit pricey for me but my ex-neighbours gave me a voucher for my birthday (one and a half months people!!!). I'm not too fond of the fruit on it though, I might take them off. I also love my new plastic ruby dangly earrings, in the words of Lady GaGa #DirtCheapPlasticLooksFantastic!

I also got a French manicure for my Prom this Thursday at one of those awesome Chinese nail salons that smell amaaaazing. They've been done with gel polish so they're going to last me ages! Check out these beauties:

OUTFIT #3: lazy days

Shirt - borrowed from work
Dress - Missguided (sold out, sorry)
Tights - Primark
Chelsea Boots - Asos
Army jacket - car boot sale
Snake Bracelet - Claire's accessories
Cuff Earring - New Look

I got this dress for Christmas and I haven't been sure about it for a long time as it's longer than what i usually wear. But today I just thought what the heck and threw it on with this top i keep forgetting to wear and my army jacket that I got for 6 euros from a car boot sale in France. I am currently in loooovvve with my new cuff earring, it's so elegant and unusual. For a long time I'd been lusting over the Topshop studded cuff earring for a long time but £7 was just a little to much for me, so I was over the moon when I found this one in New Look for £2.99! What do you think of this new cuff trend?

OUTFIT #2: SHOPPING

Leather jacket from DEFIMODE, T-shirt from FOREVER 21, Skirt from MISS SELFRIDGE and sandals from some huge department store in Italy, earrings from Topshop (sale)
This is my absolute favourite skirt, it goes with so much and it was only £4! Tie dye is so in this season and i am wearing it to death!
Recently i bought some gel eyeliner and i am never going back to pencil! It is so easy to apply, creates a really stirking effect and lasts all night. However, it did cost me £8 which i wasn't happy about, but i've heard a lot of bloggers saying how brilliant it is and i knew i had to try it out. Today i'm going out to find some Revlon lip butters as i've heard brilliant things about them. Wish me luck!

4 WAYS TO WEAR PRIMARK STRAPLESS FLORAL DRESS

I got this lovely little dress from Primark for a bargain of only £5. I am usually a size 8 but I got mine in a size 10 because the 8 was very short. It’s probably one of my favourite buys ever from Primark as it is unbelievably versatile and with an adorable pattern. Here is the first way I wear it, just as it is. It’s strapless but there is elastic across the top so it doesn’t fall down.
The second way that I like to wear it is with the ruffles tucked in because I feel like ruffles add a bit of formalness to an outfit, which is ok if I’m in a formal situation, but for when I’m not I like to wear it like this. On my feet, I wear my mum’s pale brown leather wedge sandals from Fat Face; they utterly complete the outfit and add even more summery vibe.
This is my favourite style for this dress as I don’t have enough skirts and it looks super elegant. Depending on how you accessorize, you can make this look work for formal situations (a white blazer, plum heels) or style it down for school (a hoodie and some wedges or pumps). For this look you simply tuck the top part of the dress inside the bottom.
You can even make it look like a dressy top! All you need to do is the same as for the skirt, and then just pull it up to your chest and tie a belt around it. I normally use a thatch belt as you can create your own holes in them by placing the metal bit through one of the weaves. This is perfect for me as a lot belts don’t fit my waist.

OUTFIT #1 : TRAVELLING

Shirt from Forever 21
Shorts from Pimkie (some store in France)
Flip Flops from Jack Wills

Wow, crazy hair and no make-up, I definitely have guts to post this online. I've been traveling home from France in the car all day today so I needed something comfortable and turned to my trusty Jack Wills flip-flops which have lasted me the last 5 years and practically have an indent of my feet in. Earlier, when it was a little bit colder I wore my Defimode leather jacket with it and it looked lushhhhh

Bleaching : Beware

This post is basically going to be a pros & cons of bleaching your hair, not a rant, so don’t worry. Just yesterday my friend highlighted (or highlit?) my hair for me and when it’s down I absolutely love it. Before, it was a goldy dark blonde/very light brown, it falls in naturally loose curls. The blonde highlights look great, I mostly did it at the front, slightly layered part of my hair and it has done wonders. It spreads the colour so that it looks like all of my hair is a light-mid blonde when in fact only a few strands are. I haven’t straightened my hair yet so I’m really worried it’ll look really fake, but fingers crossed! The first time I saw the finished project, it was wet and looked absolutely vile, I was considering dying my hair coal black to get rid of it, this was because the rest of my hair went darker when it was wet and the bleach went lighter – I have a feeling that this is going to be a big problem for me this summer. I also have lost the freedom to scrape my hair back in to a ponytail or bun which is my fall back style for work or just if I can’t be bothered. I didn’t dye much of the bottom of my hair and my roots are very messy (meaning I’ve had to get a side parting again) so one side and the top have very large blonde streaks and then the other side of my head has nice, thin, subtle ones. To be honest, I think I’m going to have to dye over them.
As you can see, you probably ought to think about the consequences before you go ahead with bleach, as I won’t be able to wear my hair up again for a very long time. It definitely could have gone worse for me; I was very prepared as the friend who did it for me has been working in a hairdresser’s for over a year and highlights people’s hair every day at work. If I had done this myself, lord only knows what would have happened! I think one of the possible reasons that mine looks so chavvy when up could be because I bought the only highlighting kit I could find in my village pharmacy, I’d seen it before and knew it wasn’t the good stuff but frankly I didn’t care, I didn’t think it would work so well. I used Bblonde highlighting kit which, admittedly came with very good equipment and the kit was great, but the bleach was extremely strong and so, unless you aim to look like queen of the chavs, I would recommend that you avoid this at all costs.

THINGS I LUST OVER

1
1)This is a long skirt from American Apparel which I plan to sprint to the shops and buy the moment I get paid. I first saw it in one of sunbeamjess’ (my favourite fashion blogger at the moment) videos. She wore it with a slouchy grey top which is exactly what I would team it with. Even though it is meant to be a little shorter than a maxi, an ankle basher I guess, she says that it is more of a maxi skirt on her as a shortie, so I’m hoping that the same applies to me! It is high waisted, meaning I can pull it up however high I like, and it has an elastic waist so it will definitely not slip down, unlike my other maxi skirt. It’s a crazy price but I can wear it to all kinds of things, tone it down with a t-shirt for school or wear it with a frilly top and heels for special occasions. I’m still a teeny bit undecided between the cobalt and the almandine.  The cobalt is really unusual and I can style it with quite a few colours. Almandine I can’t see myself wearing to anywhere but a wedding or occasion like that, because it’s quite princess-y and like a medieval skirt, if that makes sense. Which colour should I get?
2)      Silver Jewel Doc Martens, eugh these are soooooooooo beautiful amd quirky but I’m not sure if doc martens will suit me. They’re so big and I’m so teeny weeny and that’s a hell of a lot of money if they end up looking ridiculous.  I’ve found them online for a lot cheaper than what most places are asking for but I’m a little bit worried it could be a fake site, it seems too good to be true...
3)      I found this cute dress on the asos marketplace which I currently because there are a few people from time to time selling things for £5 because they don’t realise how much they are really worth. Mwahahaha anyway, it is £29.99 which seems a little steep for a used dress and to be honest I’m not sure if I love it just because the model is so pretty and I want to look like her! So I’ve cut her out of the picture so that she doesn’t taint my judgement euggghhh I wish I was her hahah. I think I’m going to get it, it’s one of those timeless vintage dresses which have been in style for absolutely years now, and I have a feeling they will be for a lot longer.
4)      I love love love these shoes but all of my family hate them! They have that unique vintage quality which you don’t quuiiite get with normal brogues and they’re a fun alternative to sandals, which I don’t really have a great relationship with. I’m pretty miffed off with mango actually (where they’re from) because they’ve actually gone up in price!! When I discovered them they were £36, which I thought was raaather a lot for a pair of flats but I was willing to pay it, if they lasted me, but then  the next day I checked the website and they’d gone up to £45! Not happy! I still love them but I think it will be a long while until I purchase them, as in when I am swimming in money.
5)      Love this. £5.99 from eBay, beautiful, gorgeous colour and I have finally fallen in love with the dip-hem trend after months of umming and ahhing. Although, I tried on a gold pleated dip hem dress in H&M the other day and it looked sooo bad on me, but to be honest, £5.99 isn’t a lot,  and if it really doesn’t suit me I’ll just cut it into a mini skirt. If you’re thinking of getting this, you’ll definitely need a nude bodycon underskirt as it’s a sheer material and having everything on show will never be a good look.
6)      What do I do about this necklace?! It’s got little dolphins instead of chains which is so quirky but the price is crazy!!! £35 from topshop isn’t unheard of but that doesn’t make it not ridiculous! I have been looking for a cheap gold (not real) chain necklace but I can’t find one anywhere that’s the right length or a good price. I feel like this is exactly what I was hoping for and more but it comes at a price that I just won’t pay for a necklace.
7)      I’m not a big espadrilles lover, I hate how they’re always a little bit tight on me so you can see the outline of my toes in them, but these ones have my heart. The tropical trend right now is my favourite EVER because it’s so fun. It allows personality and softens up the fashion industry a little from its serious exterior. They’re a little bit pricey for such basic shoes but they’ll be a great conversation starter and I can pair them with a really basic outfit and it’ll brighten things up a lot.
8)      Litas. For a long time I thought they wear really cheap and tacky, until funnily enough, another one of sunbeamjess’ videos persuaded me otherwise. They’ve been all over the blogosphere recently but they’re a lot of money if I’m only going to wear them to parties, but I reckon that these black ones should go pretty well with distressed shorts or a skirt, anything but jeans. For a long time I craved them in suede lilac but the only nice fake ones that I could find were £55 which is quite far outside of my budget. So, I did a little research and discovered that these black ones are also gorrrrgeous. I love them in both suede and normal but I think that I’ll probably get away with wearing them more if they’re the normal black. I’m quite worried about wearing them casually, are they too high? I plan on wearing them under a maxi skirt or dress so that the end doesn’t drag on the floor, then maybe I could wear them to school because you wouldn’t be able to see them! Aha!
9)      This playsuit is a beautiful, vintage-style piece for a great price. My only worries are that 1) playsuits might not be in next year so it might not get a lot of wear, and 2) I’m not allowed to wear anything strapless to school. What a conundrum...
10)   I think that this skirt is so sweet and chic; it’s very different from your normal straight, unforgiving denim skirt. I’m planning on buying a red and white nautical stripe top to tuck in and for shoes, practically anything! This skirt is the equivalent of jeans for if you’re feeling a little bit girly because you can style it with pretty much anything. It is a little bit pricey so I won’t be buying it until the start of school next year as I’ll have more money then and I’m not likely to be wearing it in hot weather.
Obviously I can’t afford all, or even half of this, but I’m saving up and by the time I get enough money I probably won’t want any of it anymore!

MAJOR HAUL - TOPS

Ignore the screen munch, I’m in France so I can’t e-mail myself the pictures like I normally do! This is just a basic sheer, sleeveless top from Primark that I’ve been in desperate need of for AGES. It’s really soft and cheap too. I love Primark’s collection of cotton sheer-style tops because they are a lovely alternative to those horrible scratchy blouses that were on trend last year as they’re so comfortable and versatile. However, very see through!! In the picture I’m wearing a bandeau AND a vest underneath.

I am not totally sure if this Topshop dip-dye purchase is a jumper or a top as it’s quite see through. To be honest, it can be worn either way, I’m just slightly worried that if I wear a print t-shirt underneath it’ll shoe through. It’s shiny, made of a foil-like material and not really a slubby top, it’s quite formal. I haven’t put it through the wash yet so I’m not sure how it’ll react but I read a review that a lot of the foily stuff comes off in the wash, which I’m very worried about.

A basic grey top with a very low back (bonus, yay) from Forever21, great price and so soft! There’s a theme here, I tend to judge clothes on their softness; if it’s not comfy I won’t wear it!
My new favourite t-shirt, also from Forever 21. I love the vintage vibe it gives off and the buttons are wooden which I think is a nice detail. It’s very oversized and has low armholes, but I’m having a bit of trouble finding a bandeau that doesn’t clash with the print, so I guess I’ll just have to bare all! I wore mine in my white shorts with crochet patches on and kitty pumps. I’ve seen some gorgeous studded loafers from daisystreetshoes.co.uk which I think would go brilliantly with it but I’ve told myself that I have enough pairs of shoes!

In case you were wondering, in all of these photos I’m not actually wearing my disco pants, but a pair of gymnastics leggings that I found from when I was younger (they were very big on me then). They’re a great alternative to disco pants, as they give off practically the exact same sparkle and are about a tenth of the price. They can be quite see through though and obviously they’re not high-waisted so if those are your main reasons for wanting the disco pants then these are not for you.

I’m also thinking of getting the riding pants in henna or taupe (when I get the money) should I get them? I found the henna for much cheaper on eBay but I might wait for winter until I splurge...

MAJOR HAUL - DRESSES AND SKIRTS

In theory, I love dresses and skirts but I never really get round to buying them because only certain styles suit me. I have relatively broad shoulders and a small frame so spaghetti straps on dresses give me that nice girly flare, and then make my shoulders seem even bigger and manly. It's a weird mix. But recently I found this dress from Primark for £6 I think? I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be a beach dress as the top part is quite see through, but I just put a bandeau or a vest underneath it and it looks great! You can get it in white, orange, pink and red, but i loved the purple. It has a tie back to make it more fitted which I love. This season I really love surfer style clothes, things you could wear to the beach or the clothes they wear in 90210 (love). I plan on altering the outfit however I'm feeling that day by putting a floral skirt on the bottom which will clash nicely with the top part, of maybe a knitted jumper and keep the skirt part. I wore it just as it is the other day with my black strappy leather sandals and it looked really great and simplistic. The one downside is that the skirt part creases very easily, I haven't even put it in the wash yet, only worn it for about 4 hours and it is already more creased than it could possibly ever be. So that is my little steal from Primark and the only dress that I could find that didn't make my shoulder's look like those fake ones that American football players wear, and I'm very happy with it!

maxi skirt from Forever21
I also bought my first ever maxi skirt. I used to think that I was too small to get away with a maxi skirt but last week at school I noticed a few people wearing them and they looked amazing. Especially the really simplistic ones which you don't even notice or have to think about. You can get them for quite cheap and when I came across this one i fell in love with it. As you can see from the picture below, It look very different in real life. Admittedly, it's not a great photo, the real colour is actually quite a bit brighter but definitely not as much as the photo given by Forever 21. They waist band is very loose on me so I have to roll it up a little bit and fold a baggy tucked in top over it so that you can't see the embarrassing fact that I've actually had to roll it up! I plan on wearing it with heels because then it won't drag on the floor so much. Also, I have to wear my white shorts underneath it because, even though it does have an underskirt, I have to hold the skirt up when I go up stairs and the underskirt comes up quite a bit too which can be very embarrassing! My conclusion is that you don't need to be massively tall to pull of a maxi skirt, granted it does help. If you're looking to buy one, get one with an adjustable or elastic waist to avoid having to roll it up every 10 minutes.

MAJOR HAUL - TROUSERS/SHORTS

disco pants from american apparel

1) Yes, I finally took the plunge and bought myself a pair of disco pants. I'm sorry this photo does them no justice. Obviously, I would never pay £70 for these, so I got mine from eBay, they were shipped from LA (ooh get me), I ordered them on the saturday and the arrived on the Thursday, brilliant! Granted they were £10 postage, but even with postage price added on they were still sooooo much cheaper than what american apparel are selling them for! My absolutely favourite thing about them is definitely the high-waistedness, the zip looks good and they make my legs look longer (the photo really does not show this!). However I have had one or two problems with them, they are quite difficult to get on and so tight that at the end of the day I have an imprint of the seam line down both of my legs. People say that they are comfy for sitting around in, but to be honest, they're really not. They give you that tight feeling under your knees that you get when wearing skinny jeans, so they're definitely not ideal for the cinema or for snuggling up on the sofa (as I found out, to my expense, i had to sit with my legs straight out). buttttt, BONUS! When you go outside into the sunshine, they genuinly sparkleI had no idea that they'd do that and I'm so happy they do! They add a little bit of quirkiness to my outfit. Above is also a photo from my instagram that I took after I made my discovery!

jeans from new look
2) New Look jeans, £19.99, not a bad price I thought as they are comfy, so softy and the perfect pair of jeans for me. As you can see from the picture, they are a little bit big for me but I can easily roll them up a bit and you can't tell because the inside is the same colour, so that's a plus. They are a bit thin, but I don't really care because I don't tend to wear jeans a lot. I follow a pattern of buying ones from primark (which are surprisingly nice and last me a while) for a year until they break and then I just buy another pair. These were more expensive than I usually get mine (£7 dirt cheap) but I figure they'll probably last me a bit longer and I needed some new ones so why not? I usually only wear jeans about once a week so it's not a huge deal. Although! Really annoying, because I always put my hands in my pockets when things get awkward, the front pockets on these are sewn up!!

3) I love these shorts, ok? I JUST LOVE 'EM. They are your typical blue denim shorts, kind of stripey (but that's not very noticeable) and the laces! oh the laces! They're so unique and just a dream come true. I am always on the hunt for unusual items and these are exactly that. Cheap and cheerful, and such good quality. I practically live in shorts and I'll get a lot out of these. I did really want some high-waisted shorts but I've come to realise that they'll probably make my bum look ten times the size. They are a great length, not like those knicker shorts which are so embarrasing jeez, and the only downside I can find to them is that they is quite a bulky flap behind the laces (so that you can't see through them) which is a little bit annoying as you always have to check that it's in place, but not annoying enough to put me off them. Overall, a fantastic pair of shorts that I am utterly in love with. A key piece in my summer wardrobe, I think.
